In the 21st century,
Internet becomes an important tool that spreads the news in the world, it also
contributes the new way of communication between people. Moreover, most of
people rely on the digital networking to build their social hub and also in their
workplace. Therefore, Internet forms the movements of media network in
nowadays. ‘New digital identities of young people are shaping in challenging, changing
existing social and cultural norms’ (Chalkley, 2013).
Personally speaking, Internet brings
me lots of conveniences and fun in both studying and social networking. In that
case, there are some social websites that I used to share my interests, comments
or pictures, and moreover, I think using these websites is a good way to make
friends or chatting with them easily. For example, I like using Facebook to
upload my photos, and sometimes I write some articles to share funny things
that I interested in. And I also play online games with my friends on Facebook,
I think it is a good idea and function to link lots of online games on the
website that attract lots of people to use Facebook in that case.
Here is my Facebook link. https://www.facebook.com/huang.yuehanAnother social website is Weibo that I use every day. It likes Twitter and it is very popular in China. I use Weibo to post some interesting news and pictures or repost Weibo from others to make some comments. I can get lots of fun for using these social websites because we can share comments to each other and get interaction instantly.
On the other hand, there is an
interesting phenomenon, more and more people especially young women, they like
to upload much of profile photos on their personal websites to attract people’s
attention. ‘With photos and other personal details, Facebook and Myspace
generate public privacy into a new form of narcissism’ (Hills, 2009). I also
like to put my profile photos on my Facebook, once someone comments my photo, I
will see it. I think it is a good way to let my friends know my current dressing
and makeup, it also can improve self-identity from those positive comments. Additionally,
I attend to an online community few months ago, this is a Cosplay community
that people can Cos any characters they like from Japanese anime.
Here are some
pictures of what does Cosplay look like.
Then we put photos of our dressing costumes on the website, and share comments with other community members about the outcomes of Cosplay. Furthermore, we talk about the plots of these Animations and which character does we like the most. This is a really good social websites for me because I can find more people that they have the same interests with me and know people from different places. In the modern society, people use Internet wildly as it has lots of functions brings benefits to conduct the development of new media. It enriches my social life and gives me much information through the digital networks.
